Your name disqualifies you from winning Awards Captain Smart Cautions Patapaa

According to him, the name 'Patapaa' can be a hindrance to his success in his career Popular radio presenter, Captain Smart, has cautioned rising Ghanaian musician, Patapaa, with respect to his name. According to a report by, the radio host stated that the word ‘Patapaa’ means someone who refuses to regard sensible thoughts. “This Patapaa guy, when did he become Patapaa? Your name alone can disqualify you from winning an award. Why do you call yourself ‘Patapaa’? Patapaa means someone who refuses to regard sensible thoughts,” he said on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM. Captain Smart’s comment were as a result of the controversy surrounding the presentation of the ‘Most Popular Song’ award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) to Fancy Gadam. Patapaa was captured in a video leaving the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), the venue of the event on the night of Saturday, April 14, 2018. This was alleged to be as a result of his disappointment due to the fact that he lost the award to Fancy Gadam. The two musicians, have since then, been exchanging words with respect to the event.
